About Us
Five students. One shared heritage. A mission to bring preventive healthcare to the communities that raised their families.
The Beginning
Nalam Diabetes Foundation was born from a simple observation: too many families in Coimbatore were discovering diabetes only after serious complications had already set in.
Founded by five students from the USA with deep family roots in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, we saw a gap between the world-class healthcare information available to us and the limited access our extended families had to basic preventive testing.
The word "Nalam" (நலம்) means "wellness" in Tamil — and that's exactly what we're working to bring: a culture of wellness through prevention, not just treatment.
To shift the local health paradigm from late-stage disease management to early-stage prevention, ensuring that the people of Coimbatore and surrounding villages have the tools to live healthier, longer lives.
A future where every resident of the Coimbatore region has access to free diabetes screening, understands their risk level, and knows the practical steps to take for a healthier life.
